Functions of an Anti-Ragging Committee :
- Prevent Ragging on Campus
- Ensure a ragging-free environment in the institution, including hostels and common areas. Spread awareness among students about the negative effects of ragging and the strict consequences.
- Monitor and Supervise Activities
- Keep watch over student behavior, especially during the beginning of the academic year. Regularly inspect hostels, cafeterias, common rooms, and other sensitive areas.
- Take Prompt Action on Complaints
- Receive, investigate, and take disciplinary action on any ragging complaints. Forward serious complaints to the appropriate authority or police, if needed.
- Conduct Orientation & Awareness Programs
- Organize sessions for fresher’s and seniors about anti-ragging policies. Display anti-ragging posters, notices, and helpline numbers across the campus.
- Liaise with Authorities
- Coordinate with local police, NGOs, and regulatory bodies like UGC or AICTE as required. Submit reports and updates to regulatory authorities when mandated.
- Maintain Confidentiality and Support Victims
- Ensure the identity of complainants is protected. Provide counseling and support to students who are victims of ragging.
